Farmer Time New Zealand is an educational programme that brings farming directly into the classroom by harnessing the power of digital communications to inspire, engage and educate young people about the journey of food from farm to fork in the ever-changing, diverse agricultural industry.
Children regularly chat live to their matched farmer from their classrooms, discuss ideas, ask questions, share knowledge and gain a ‘real-time’ understanding of farming. This connection allows a 1 to 1 relationship to develop between one class and one farmer across a school year.
During Term One of 2022, Beef + Lamb New Zealand Inc. is facilitating the Farmer Time New Zealand Pilot. There are 8 participating matched farmers and teacher-classrooms enthusiastically taking part in this pilot. Learnings will be taken from the evaluation of this pilot to support the rollout of a national pan-sector Farmer Time New Zealand programme across 2022.
If you are a farmer or teacher who would like to be part of this programme or simply would like to find out more, please complete the form above.
Doing so will add you to the Farmer Time New Zealand email database which will ensure that you’re kept up to date with the latest updates from the programme.
Beef + Lamb New Zealand Inc. is the New Zealand partner of the Farmer Time program. Farmer Time was founded in the UK by Farmer Tom Martin and is coordinated by LEAF (Linking Environment And Farming).
