FARMERS ACROSS THE COUNTRY BEING ASKED TO GO BACK TO SCHOOL

This item first appeared on Country TV on 11 July 2022.

Farmers across the country are being asked to go back to school as a part of a new educational programme for children called Farmer Time. Its a UK idea which links farmers with primary and intermediate school children through virtual classroom sessions using Zoom. Students regularly chat live with a farmer, gaining an understanding of farming across the seasons and providing real-world examples of what they’re learning during the school year. Beef + Lamb Inc CEO Kit Arkwright is driving the initiative, is keen to see food producers from all sectors get involved. He says Farmer Time gives student genuine insights into how our food is being produced. A pilot programme, involving eight farmer – teacher pairings across six schools and 184 students.
